(poker) the final phase of a hand, occurring after the final round of betting
The showdown is the final stage in a poker hand, where the remaining players reveal their hole cards after the last round of betting. This occurs once all community cards have been dealt, and no more betting is left to be done. Players compare their hands to determine who has the best five-card hand, according to the rules of the game. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot. If two or more players have hands of equal strength, the pot is split between them. The showdown is the point where bluffing is revealed and the outcome is decided.
